Brian Laythe, Ph.D.

Brian Laythe has a Ph.D. in social psychology and is the Director of the Institute for the Study of Religious and Anomalous Experience (I.S.R.A.E.: He has been actively publishing research in parapsychology, ideology and beliefs, and anomalistic psychology for 20 years. Dr. Laythe is a co-author of the book Ghosted! Exploring the Haunting Reality of Paranormal Encounters (2022, McFarland & Co.), and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Scientific Exploration.

Cindy Little, Ph.D.

Cindy Little has a Ph.D. in educational psychology and is currently a parapsychological researcher for the Institute of Religious and Anomalous Experience. She currently has published several articles in parapsychology with fellow researchers, Brian Laythe and James Houran. Cindy also teaches courses on paranormal investigating at a local community college and online and runs her own paranormal consulting and tourism business at


James Houran, Ph.D.

James Houran has a Ph.D. in Psychology and is a 30-year veteran in parapsychology with over 150 peer-reviewed research articles, and his award-winning work has been profiled by a myriad of media outlets and programs including the Discovery Channel, A&E, BBC, National Geographic, NBC’s Today Show, USA Today, New Scientist, and Psychology Today. His edited books include Hauntings and Poltergeists: Multidisciplinary Perspectives and From Shaman to Scientist: Essays on Humanity’s Search for Spirits. And Dr. Houran is a co-author of the new book Ghosted! Exploring the Haunting Reality of Paranormal Encounters. He currently as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Scientific Exploration
